The Rotary Club of Northern Calvert in Partnership with Career Puppy, Inc. is Making a Difference in Our Community!! With our strongly aligned missions, Career Puppy provides a powerful vehicle for Rotary to make a positive impact on our community. Proceeds from purchasing Career Puppy will benefit Rotary local community projects (see How does the Partnership Work?, below.)
What in the world is "Career Puppy"?
Career Puppy, Inc. is designed to provide a powerful and unique video and web-based service for youth and career-transitioning individuals. The mission of Career Puppy is to take "work" to the next level through inspiration and innovation. Everyone is passionate about something. We help them explore their "career passion" and find their path.
Our fundraising matching program allows us to make donations to youth serving organizations in our area. The first organizations to receive a Rotary donation of Career Puppy resources include Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Girl Scouts, Department of Juvenile Services and Calvert County DSS - Foster Care Program.
Having an expanded view of career options and the resources to help guide decisions is linked to a strengthening of self-confidence and future goal setting, which have been shown to provide youth with positive decision-making skills to avoid risky behaviors, including substance use and truancy.
A key feature of northerncalvertrotary.careerpuppy.com is an inovatiive on-line mentoring program, which provides a powerful career development opportunity. Other Career Puppy resources include a DVD Series, and career focused workshops for educators, parents and youth.
How does the Partnership Work?
With our strongly aligned missions, Career Puppy provides a powerful vehicle for Rotary to make a positive impact on our community. When you purchase a one-year subscription for an individual ($29.00) or an organization ($750.00) half of the proceeds from the sale of these products will go to local community projects.
CareerPuppy.com is a career exploration site for those choosing or transitioning careers. We assist people in finding rich, fulfilling careers through inspiration and innovation. A subscription will provide you with full access for a year to all content on the site PLUS a Strong Interest Inventory instrument and Strong Interpretive results. Career Puppy Web Subscription
An annual subscription will provide the opportunity to investigate careers through compelling videos, written information, online mentors, and hetworking with others. The Career Puppy site is dynamic; content is continually being added and updated. Your subscription can also include the Strong Interest Inventory.
Strong Interest Inventory Package
Individuals can take the Strong Interest Inventory and learn new insights that will help with their career quest. Participants will receive a report that zeros in on the toop 10 occupations potentially most satisfying to them. The results provide specifics on the typical work tasks associated with each job, and theknowledge, skills, and abilities required for success. Career Puppy can also provide report results interpretation.
Career Puppy DVD Series
The Career Puppy DVD series offers compelling documentary-style videos that provide “the good, the bad, and the ugly” and demystify careers. The multimedia approach engages individuals in a powerful way to encourage self-reflection about career choices. The series can be esily implemented in the classroom, small groups and one-on-one settings as well as check-out in a media room, library, and parent resource center. The series includes:

Career Puppy Workshops
These dynamic, interactive workshops incorporate Career Puppy video, lecture, discussion, peer-to-peer interaction and simulated activities for participants.
- Educator Workshop: This dynamic workshop is designed to prepare educators to successfully utilize Career Puppy resources in a variety of settings, including classroom, small groups, one-on-one, after school, and as a parent involvement strategy.
- Student Workshop: The workshop is designed to elp students assess where they are in their career quest, expose them to careers they may have never considered and help them learn how to make good career decisions. Students will also receive tips and tools to get from here to there!
- Parent Workshop: Our professional staff teaches parents how to use the Career Puppy materials with their children at home. Participants will also receive critical information related to career development and the prevention of substance abuse and other risky behaviors.
- Custom Workshop: Career Puppy can develop custom workshops specific to your organizations needs. Our professional staff provides the highest quality consultation to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
